The era of Belle Époque Vienna, home and times of Gustav Klimt, proved to be the cradle for what was the best and worst in the early days of the 20th Century. Of the era, Stefan Zweig wrote “it was only in art that all Viennese felt they had equal rights, because art, like love, was regarded as a duty incumbent on everyone in the city.” With a mind more flexible and less weighed down by the tradition of the conspicuous leaders of the avant-garde, Klimt championed and encouraged new trends through his art.
Join us as we survey the life and works of one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement, Gustav Klimt. Presented by Professor Karri Fritz-Klaus of Cornerstone History Symposium.
This is the fourth lecture in a five-part series, “The Spirituality of Light: A Moral Compass.” Mark your calendar for the remaining presentation (12/10: Turner). Free to attend. No registration required.
